Most homes have too few sockets, in the wrong places, with the wrong fittings. The fix is usually quicker and cheaper than people think — particularly if there's an existing socket nearby that we can spur from.
Standard work: adding a double socket where there's currently a single, fitting USB-C combination sockets (no more wall warts), replacing tired off-white plastic with brushed steel or matt black for a modern look, adding a switched fused spur for that hard-wired appliance.
£60 covers a like-for-like swap. Adding a new socket where one didn't exist before is more (cable chasing, making good) — typically £85-180 depending on cable run.
How it works
Common questions
Can you put sockets anywhere I want?
Almost. Building regulations limit where sockets can go in a bathroom (must be 2.5m from any sink/tub), and some heritage properties have restrictions. Otherwise, yes — we'll work out the cable route and confirm before starting.
Are USB-C sockets worth it?
Yes for daily use. USB-C delivers more power than older USB-A, fits modern phones, tablets, laptops without an adapter, and removes wall-warts that block adjacent sockets. Worth specifying as standard for any new socket installation in living rooms, bedrooms, and offices.
What's the most modern look?
Subjective. Brushed steel or screwless brushed steel is the safe choice for most homes (works with any palette). Matt black is increasingly popular for a contemporary feel. Antique brass fits period properties. We can fit any major brand — MK, Hamilton, Heritage Brass, BG Nexus.
Can you add a socket where there isn't one?
Yes. Easiest if there's an existing socket nearby on the same wall (we 'spur' off it). Harder if the new socket needs its own cable run from the consumer unit — but doable. Typical cost: £140-220 for cable + chase + socket + making-good.
Do you do smart switches?
Yes. Most popular in 2026: Shelly relays (cheapest and very flexible), Lutron Caseta (premium), Sonoff Mini (tech-comfortable households). We discuss what makes sense for your home — dimmer, scene control, voice control etc.
